Planning: Lighting
Choosing your lighting is a fairly important thing in a bathroom. The floor can be wet and you need to be able to see yourself properly, for example when applying make-up. Here are a few tips to help you decide which type of lighting is suitable for your situation.
When you're single or living with adults, you might want to choose for lights that create a certain atmosphere with accent lights where you need it most, like above the basin. This will give you a great freedom in creating the ambiance you want.
If you have a family, brighter main lighting will be necessary to secure safety by lighting all the areas, so that corners and wet patches on the floor get noticed. If you live with smaller children, make sure they can reach the light at night when they have to go to the toilet.
A window in a bathroom is a great assett as natural light is always better during daytime than artificial. If you suffer from a lot of glare from neighbouring houses, you can try to make the glass in your window look like frosted glass with foil or spray paint. Or use muslin or any other fabric that does let the light through, but keeps the glare to a minimum.
